Our inspector has over 30 years of honest, practical, experience and is recommended by all of our clients and many attorneys for home inspections and problem solving. We compete with inspectors that have only a few years of college and none to minimal expeirance in the building field. There are those who have been trained to build roads, bridges, work with chemicals, airplanes, draw architectural plans, etc.
There are also inspectors that have designed, built, and re-built, everything in a home inspection.
Who do you think is more qualified? See below for a brief overview of our qualifications.
All of the projects / pictures below were designed and carried out by this inspector not second parties. The age of these projects span over many years.
This inspector has rebuilt many inhabitable houses, from foundation to the roof shingles [at least one was to be condemned and demolished].
Over 25 houses elevated to be above flood tides. [flooded houses / hurricanes] The knowledge to build sub cradles where needed and where to place jacks is required to elevate a building without causing structural and cosmetic damage. These projects also includes new foundations, rotted structural members replaced, salt water damaged electric and plumbing replaced, chimneys raised, replaced, and occasionally moved. Many sinking houses were leveled off and the foundations were underpinned, etc. to prevent future sinking. All of this work was usually performed while the houses were lived in.
Many additions were designed and built: foundations, family rooms, bathrooms, hot tub rooms, kitchens, garages, commercial buildings, loading docks, etc, [This inspector designed and built his first 2 car garage when he was 16], [complete from foundation to roof shingles].
Crawlspaces dug out to be basements.
Many boilers replaced, forced warm air furnaces changed to hot water baseboard, steam converted to hot water baseboards, hot water heaters installed, several oil to natural gas conversions.
Stopped many wet basement problems with far less then the typically suggested French drain system.
Found and stopped many leaking roofs that others were not able to solve.
Found, re-designed and replaced many failed engineered designs, sagging girders, beams, roof rafters, not to mention insect damaged walls, floors, beams, etc.
Designed and re-graded many yards to prevent: wet basements, damp slabs, mold, foundation cracks, settling of the structure, etc.
Connected many houses to the county’s sewage system and eliminated cesspools. Dewatering was sometimes required in waterfront or high water table areas.
Installed many oil tanks above and below grade, and abandoned just as many.
Designed and repaired many bulkheads, built floating docks and piers, davits, ice prevention systems [submersed bubbling systems].
Although we still trouble shoot hard to solve problems, we have not been involved in any form of construction for approximately 10 years.
We are recommended by and inspect for many attorneys.
We are insured and are full ASHI / NAHI-CRI members.
